Paterson mayor Sayegh rebuilds war chest, raises $100,000 in birthday bash

Mayor Andre Sayegh raked in $100,000 from his birthday bash at the Brownstone House on Wednesday night, rebuilding a badly depleted campaign war chest.

Closing balance on Sayegh’s campaign account in January was less than $1,400, according to state campaign finance reports.

“Now, I have some cushion,” said Sayegh on Thursday morning. He raised a large amount of money last summer in the mayor’s inaugural ball soon after being sworn in, but those funds were deposited in the account of the nonprofit One Paterson Foundation.

Sayegh is three years away from re-election. He won a landslide victory in six-person race last May.

Sayegh received more votes than the second and third place finishers combined.

This mayor is good for Paterson at this moment, we finally have a very articulate speaking mayor representing the city of Paterson. Very educated, and care about our city ,he is working on inclusiveness , transparency.
We will now have some one to speak on our behave, when the opportunity arise.
Just recently I watch him on channel 9 and I was impressed. We never had that kind of representation in a long time .
Let support our mayor so he can effectively lead.
    I wish him much success.
In fact I support all our elected officials here until they mess up.
