An overnight fire displaced 13 people from their Paterson Avenue house, said deputy fire chief William Henderson.
Fire at the three-story house at 220 Paterson Avenue came in at 11:21 p.m.
Firefighters quickly put out the flames on the second and third floor, keeping the fire to a single-alarm.
Henderson said utilities to the building have been cut and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Displaced residents are being aided by the American Red Cross.
