Mahesh-Mehta

A doctor has been indicted for allegedly selling prescriptions for highly addictive painkillers, according to New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal’s Office.

Mahesh Mehta, 65-year-old, was indicted by a state grand jury in Trenton on Monday on second-degree unlawful dispensing of controlled dangerous substances.

Mehta allegedly sold prescriptions for Percocet, authorities said.

The doctor could face 5 to 10 years in state prison and $150,000 in criminal penalty if convicted, authorities said.

Mehta practices family medicine out of an office on 10th Avenue in Paterson.
