A city man died on Wednesday afternoon after a vehicle struck him while he was crossing Main Street, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Rey Gaspar Ramirez, 61, was crossing at the intersection of Main and Mary streets at around 1:55 p.m. He was struck by a Ford F450 driven by Jose Alexandro Cordero Ramirez, 62, of Maryland.
Gaspar was pronounced dead at 2:12 p.m. at Saint Joseph’s University Hospital, authorities said.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision, authorities said.
Cordero remained at the scene. He presented a valid driver’s license to police, authorities said. No charges have been filed against him.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
