Paterson undercover operations yield 14 arrests, drugs, and $9,200 cash

Fourteen people were arrested in three separate undercover operations in Paterson on Thursday, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Police recovered $9,211 cash in the operations. 226 glassine envelopes of heroin, 66 grams of marijuana, and 19 grams of crack cocaine were seized, police said.

Enrique R. Garcia, 26, of Paterson; Hector L. Cruz, 50, of Paterson; Luis A. Campbell, 27, of Paterson; Daniel T. Shaw, 56, of Franklin; Annamarie Hughes, 35, of Franklin; Jovan Hill, 20, of Paterson; Prince J. Block, 23, of Paterson; Javis Porter, 26, of Paterson; Najee A. Tabor, 27, of Paterson; Khadir M. Lindsey, 23, of Paterson; Erving D. Porter, 38, of Paterson; Zakee Harrison, 34, of Paterson; Jarvis Porter, 25, of Paterson; and Bryan Vargas, 19, of Paterson, were each charged with drug offenses.

Police arrested Garcia, Cruz, Campbell, and Shaw on Cliff and North 4th streets at around 11:55 a.m.

Garcia had 4 baggies of marijuana and $2,330 cash, police said. Cruz and Campbell were charged with possession of 186 glassine envelopes of heroin and 2 baggies of crack cocaine. Both allegedly sold 26 packets of heroin to Shaw and Hughes.

Police seized $2,875 cash from Campbell.

Hill and Block were arrested on 16th Avenue and Carroll Street at around 2:45 p.m. Both were charged with possession of 18 baggies of marijuana and other drug offenses.

The Porters, Tabor, Lindsey, Harrison, and Vargas were arrested in a raid at 34 Jefferson Street at around 4:20 p.m.

Police recovered 40 glassines of heroin, 3 baggies and 1 knotted bag of crack cocaine, 9 baggies and 1 sandwich bag of marijuana in the raid. $706 was seized from Javis, $1,610 from Tabor, $1,025 from Lindsey, $62 from Erving, $373 from Harrison, and $230 from Vargas, police said.

Speziale said police conducted the operations after getting complaints from the community.
