An alleged high-ranking member of the Almighty Latin King Nation street gang has been arrested in a major drug bust that involved raids in Paterson and Little Falls, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Jecksan Cancel, also known as “King Smooth,” 41, of Little Falls, had been under surveillance for the past few months, police said. Detectives discovered Cancel had been distributing marijuana out of his barbershop, Smooth Kreationz, at 155 Ellison Street.
Police in Paterson and Little Falls began cooperating as part of the investigiation. Detectives conducted four raids, including at 155 Ellison Street in Paterson and 85 Lower Notch Road in Little Falls.
Police seized 4,655 grams or 10.2 pounds of marijuana, 28 THC vapor cartridges, 1 Springfield XD .40 caliber handgun with 11 unspent rounds, and $11,224 cash in the raids.
Cancel has been charged with 11 drugs and weapons offenses. Police also charged two others in the drug investigation.
Daisy Figueroa, 47, of Clifton, and Angel Sanchez, 26, of Paterson, were arrested in the investigation.
Figueroa has been charged with five weapons offenses. Sanchez has been charged with marijuana possession.
“This was a major arrest and the coordination amongst law enforcement was exemplary,” Speziale said.
