A city man was killed in a shooting at the intersection of Governor and Carroll streets on Monday night, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
45-year-old Robert Covington was found lying near the sidewalk with apparent gunshot wounds at around 9:14 p.m. when police responded to report of a shooting in the area. He was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries.
Covington was pronounced dead at 9:49 p.m., authorities said.
The homicide is Paterson’s third in 2020. First homicide occurred on Godwin Avenue on January 18 and the second on February 18 on 12th Avenue.
