Paterson coronavirus deaths climb to 9, more than 730 tested positive

The number of people tested positive for the new coronavirus in Paterson increased from 620 to 733 with two new deaths on Friday.

Municipal officials said the virus claimed two men – 43 and 58 – bringing the total deaths from Covid-19 in Paterson to nine. Age of the victims in Paterson has ranged from 36 to 84. Seven were men and three women, according to public data.

Paterson has the most cases in Passaic County which reported 2,216 positive cases and 34 deaths. Clifton is trailing behind Paterson with 358 positive cases and 5 deaths as of Friday.

Overall, New Jersey reported 29,895 cases with 646 deaths, according to the state health department.
