The police arrested two men for allegedly operating businesses in Paterson in violation of emergency orders requiring them to close because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to authorities.

Juan Ortiz, 36, of Paterson was charged on Monday for operating the Deluxe Bubbles Car Wash on River Street. He was open and conducting business in violation of emergency orders, authorities said.

Ortiz approached and became aggressive when officers were speaking to the business owner, his father. Ortiz is charged with violating emergency orders and resisting arrest, authorities said.

Feras Abudaya, 33, of Kinnelon, was operating the Buy and Save Furniture on Market Street. His business is considered non-essential, but he was open for business on Sunday and Monday, authorities said.

Abudaya was charged twice for violating emergency orders by opening his store.

Paterson police issued 40 summonses to people violating emergency orders on Monday.

I see both Hispanics were arrested. How about equal justice? How about the Muslim furniture store.right on the corner of CityHall. This isn't right, religion has no place in Paterson. Even electronic stores (all Muslim owned) are being left open because they sell calling card. Really? Paterson is a mess.
