1 killed, 1 wounded in Paterson shooting on East 25th Street

A city man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting in the area of East 25th Street on Tuesday evening, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Jessy Camilo, 26, and Tamir Blackwood, 27, were struck by gunfire at around 8:06 p.m. outside of 675 East 25th Street.

Camilo and Blackwood were rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment.

Blackwood died from his injuries at the hospital.

Camilo is in stable condition.

The shooting is part of a wave of violence that began on Friday. Previously, six people were shot from Friday into Sunday night. The latest incident puts the tally at eight.

Police continue to investigate the homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paterson Police Detective Bureau at 973-321-1120.

        I see John more than I see the mayor. It's stupid that you used that cliche line – advocate for stricter gun laws. What is there to advocate for? Are those in government BLIND? You are telling that the judicial system in paterson that let these criminals go with a slap on their wrist is blind? Stop making excuses. They don't need us to tell them to give these criminals maximum time. You are one of the problem. This is a no excuse forum.
