The number of people tested positive for the new coronavirus in Paterson increased by 51 to 5,701 on Tuesday afternoon, according to municipal government data.

One new death was reported on Tuesday, bringing the total to 271.

Paterson has the largest outbreak of the virus in Passaic County.

Passaic County has 14,716 infections with 765 deaths. Overall, New Jersey had 140,743 cases with 9,508 fatalities on Tuesday.
