A city man coerced an 11-year-old girl via a messenger application to produce nude photographs of herself, according to U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito’s office.
Jose Minaya, 24-year-old, has been charged with production of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
Minaya engaged the girl in sexually explicit conversation through an online messenger application in July 2019.
Minaya, under the profile “Jaysonfreak,” inquired about the girl’s sexual history and requested her to send sexually explicit pictures of herself through a separate application. She took pictures of her buttocks and vagina and sent it to him.
Authorities learned about Minaya in November 2019. He was identified using his profile picture. The account Minaya instructed the victim to send the images to was connected to an email with his name that was associated with his telephone number.
While investigating Minaya, authorities found he used a different social media application to upload a seven-second video of child pornography that depicted an adult sexually assaulting a child. The video was uploaded from his IP address that was registered to his cellphone.
Minaya could face a maximum of 50 years in prison if convicted on the charges.
