Paterson police arrest eight, seize 2,269 packets of heroin in Van Houten Street bust

The police conducted a large drug bust on Van Houten Street after receiving complaints of “rampant” drug activity.

Eight people were arrested, 2,269 glassine envelopes of heroin, 22 vials and 1 baggie of crack cocaine, 27 bags of marijuana and 5 THC edibles, 40 Percocet pills, and 92 Xanax pills were seized.

Police seized $2,995 in suspected drug money.

All eight — Floyd Stevens, 56, of Clifton; Glenn Gibson, 59, of Garfield; Daequan Owen, 24, of Paterson; De’Mice Hodges, 19, of Paterson; Ian Mathisen, 27, of North Bergen; Breanna Powell, 19, of North Bergen; Peter Neillands, 46, of Ridgefield; and Eugenio Cormona, 43, of Morris Plains – were charged with various drug offenses.

Stevens was charged with six drug offense. Gibson was charged with marijuana possession.

Owen and Hodges were charged with more than 30 drug offenses.

Mathisen, Powell, Neillands, and Cormona were charged with drug possession.

Police said the eight people were arrested on Van Houten and Summer streets.
