A city man was arrested allegedly in possession of a handgun early Wednesday morning, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Koshawn James, 26-year-old, has been charged with weapons offenses.
Police said he was walking on Godwin Avenue near Carroll Street holding a heavy object in his sweathood pocket at around 2:20 a.m.
Detectives exited their vehicles and James began to run east on Godwin Avenue discarding a .22 caliber revolver on the ground.
James was chased down and arrested, police said.
Detectives Mohammad Bashir, Gilot Castor, and Yamil Pimienta were responsible for the successful arrest and weapon recovery.
