The police recovered a handgun and a high capacity magazine while trying to break up a large gathering on Keen and Mercer streets on Tuesday afternoon.
Police observed 20-25 people at the intersection at around 4:56 p.m. One suspect, in possession of a handgun, began to walk away from the group at a fast pace down Rosa Parks Boulevard towards Warren Street.
The suspect with shoulder length dreads and blond tips ran onto Warren Street. Police chased him.
The suspect threw a Smith & Wesson 9mm Handgun with 15-round high capacity magazine holding six live rounds.
Police said the suspect got away by outrunning police.
