Municipal officials have awarded a $1.4 million contract extension to Morristown-based waste management company Covanta for disposal of solid waste.
Covanta’s contract extension runs from August 1 through October 29, 2020, according to municipal records.
The 90-day extension follows a larger contract that is scheduled to expire on July 31, 2020.
Covanta is charging $71.19 per ton of solid waste.
In July 2015, municipal officials awarded a two-year contract for $10.73 million to Covanta with the option to renew for three additional one-year periods. Third and final year renewal ran from August 1, 2019 through July 31, 2020 for $5.66 million, according to municipal records.
The contract extension was awarded last Tuesday.
