Passaic City shooting suspect arrested in Paterson

A man wanted for a shooting in Passaic City was arrested in Paterson on Tuesday, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Yormani M. Cruz, 18-year-old, of Passaic City, was arrested on East 27th Street in Paterson at around 9:30 a.m.

Cruz allegedly resisted arrest, authorities said. He was charged with resisting arrest. Previously, authorities charged Cruz with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a handgun, and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose in connection with the May 16 shooting in Passaic City.

Authorities said Cruz was allegedly involved in the shooting on Summer and Spruce streets in Passaic City. Passaic City police responded to the area at around 7:50 p.m. on report of shots fired, but did not find a victim.
