paterson-police

The police broke up a sidewalk dice game and seized a semi-automatic handgun on Godwin Avenue on Saturday night, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Police said a 17-year-old boy had the weapon on his waistband. He tried to hide it when detectives arrived to break up the group on Godwin Avenue and Summer Street at around 8:15 p.m. He tried to walk away from the intersection, but was detained by police.

The .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun seized from the boy was reported stolen out of North Carolina, police said.

Police said the boy was charged with weapons offenses and is being held at the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court hearing.

The recovered weapon is being submitted to the New Jersey State Police Lab for examination.

another good boy who is misunderstood and never hurt anyone. Apparently he had no opportunities to find work but had to find gun

He didn't have opportunities for recreation with 50 parks in Paterson but found an opportunity to get a gun stolen in the deep south.

The white man sold it to him.

    Good job

I don't think so. Police was nowhere to be found last night. Fireworks, loud music and block parties was happening all over Paterson. Andre Sayegh has to be recalled or voted out.

Never bring a gun to an outdoor dice game. Smh.

Actually you should. Too many “@$$-betters” out there. Oops..for all my non-Paterson residents (esp you cane-walking retirees who seem to comment about Paterson affairs..); that means people who will bet/match..win? Take YOUR money…Lose? Won’t PAY your money lol

Hey, troll. What have you contributed to the well being of the city? Empty, anonymous snark is the definition of ignorance.

        • TK Kirkland

A decent portion of revenue via parking meters and…what else? Oh! And I usually frequent The New Corral diner :) What about you? (Van Houten prostitutes doesn’t count)

          • HankMorgan

            hehheh

The fact that retirees read and comment on Paterson goings shoes how much they care about what actually happens here. I watched two minutes of your revolting misogynistic excuse for stand up “comedy.” How you’ve ever been able to rub two nickels together peddling this s**t I’ll never know.
