19-year-old shot in Paterson’s second shooting overnight

A city man was wounded in a shooting on 12th Avenue late Saturday night, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim, 19-year-old, was struck by gunfire on 12th Avenue between Auburn and Carroll streets at around 10:50 p.m.

He arrived at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. His injuries are non-fatal, police said.

The victim is the second person shot in Paterson on Saturday. Twenty minutes earlier, police were advised a 41-year-old Kenilworth man arrived at the hospital. He was shot on 9th Avenue, police said.

Both overnight shootings are the latest in an escalating series of violent incidents in Paterson. Last week, seven people were shot, four fatally. On Friday night, three people were shot on 10th Avenue. Two of the victims were in critical condition.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
