Prostitution bust nets four alleged street walkers in Paterson

van-houten-street

A detective posed as a john during a prostitution crackdown on Van Houten Street on Friday evening. Street walkers flagged him down and propositioned him for sex act in exchange for money, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Police arrested for alleged prostitutes during the crackdown on Van Houten and Auburn streets.

Morales Betty, 47, of Paterson; Nicole C. Paletta-Wright, 39, of Paterson; Kristen D. Surlak, 34, of Fair Lawn; and Dawn M. Stapowick, 47, of Paterson, were each charged with prostitution offenses.

“We have focused on the prostitutes drawing people to the community and will continue to focus on both the prostitutes and johns,” Speziale said. “The broken window theory is proven that all these issues lead to larger crimes and we will continue to put a lid on it.”

Speziale said police conducted the operation after getting complaints of prostitution in the area from residents.

Why are my post being deleted? Is this paper liberal?

    • John Brown

Because. Truths will not be written here.

      Fags posts get deleted.

  • HankMorgan

Seriously? With multiple shootings daily this is what you focus on? C’mon, Jerry. You can do better than this.

    • John Brown

You don't think they would focus on real issues do you?.. so they put the police on Hoe Patrol.

      • HankMorgan

Lol. But they seem to be taking a lot of guns off the streets in these murderous neighborhoods. I don’t get it.

    • Craig list

Sound like you want to get your dick sucked.

They are no different than our politicians who prostitute themselves to the charter lobby

Drove down Auburn 10 minutes ago and saw a junkie hooker shooting up, needle hanging out of her arm, blood dripping, on the sidewalk next to the library. Nothing out of the ordinary, EXCEPT just then a Paterson Cop SUV, (I Think it had unit "684" was on it. Don't remember for certain) DROVE RIGHT PAST THIS "WHATEVER" AND IGNORED IT. What's wrong with this picture in relation to this article?

Paterson cops do not CARE. we need cops who live in the city and care working here.

      • Jet Saccento

Lol you think arresting said person is going to change anything? The failed drug war has beyond proven, as has historic evidence of the past, that prohibition and criminalizing public health does nothing but make it WORSE. This country will never do what needs to be done to help low income poverty stricken neighborhoods and cities to recover and thrive. They make too much money from the criminal justice system to let that happen. Sad.

  • Paterson Resident

And what about those junkies taking over the Eastside area. How are we going to allow 5th wark to look like the 4th?

  • Luis Araoz

It is a consensual transaction between 2 adults. It is a release for a potential child molester. It is better that men look for hookers instead of raping somebody.
