Man becomes third person shot in Paterson under 24 hours

A city man was wounded in a shooting on Fair Street, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim, 45-year-old, was struck when shots were fired on Fair and East 18th streets at around 3:20 p.m. on Friday, authorities said.

Police responding to the shooting area were informed the victim was en route to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in private vehicle. His injuries are non-fatal, police said.

The victim is the third person shot in Paterson under 24 hours. On Thursday at 5:40 p.m., two people were wounded in a shooting on Hamilton Avenue and Auburn Street.

Authorities continue to investigate the shootings. Anyone with information is asked to call Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
