The police recovered two weapons in separate incidents over the weekend, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Police recovered a defaced 12-gauge pump action shotgun outside 200 16th Avenue at around 11:55 p.m. on Friday.
Police arrived in the area on report of a person with a gun. Detectives did not find the suspect, but found the shotgun inside a duffle bag near the residence.
No one was arrested, but the investigation continues.
An hour later, police recovered the second weapon. A loaded 9mm handgun was taken from Rodney Anthony, 25, of Paterson, at 170 Lawrence Street.
Anthony was among a crowd of 15 people gathered alongside Wrigley Park partying at 1:10 a.m. on Saturday. They doubled parked vehicles, were drinking alcohol, and playing loud music, police said. When police approached to issue tickets, Anthony allegedly turned away and tried to conceal the handgun in the front pocket of his hoodie.
Police recovered the SCCY 9mm handgun without an incident.
Anthony was charged with weapons offenses. He is being held at the Passaic County Jail pending a court hearing.
