A Newark man was arrested in possession of handgun in Paterson on Wednesday night, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Terrell Johnson, 29-year-old, has been charged with multiple weapons offenses. He was arrested in the area of 10th Avenue and East 28th Street at around 10:15 p.m.
Police were breaking up a crowd at the intersection. They also wanted a blue Jeep with Canadian license plates that was double parked and obstructing traffic moved.
Johnson was the driver of the vehicle. While making contact, police found him in possession of a loaded Luger 9mm semi-automatic handgun. He was arrested without an incident, police said.
