A police dog sniffed out drugs and a gun near the basement door of an East 18th Street house on Thursday morning, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Police smelled odor of drugs at the building while conducting a property check at around 11:40 a.m.
K-9 Simpson was deployed in the area of East 18th Street and Park Avenue to sniff out any possible drugs. Simpson produced a positive alert of drugs inside a crawl space by the basement door in the back of 744 East 18th Street, police said.
Police recovered 42 baggies, 16 vials of marijuana, 11 grams of cocaine in a clear plastic baggie, 72 vials of cocaine, and a Smith & Wesson special revolver loaded with five live rounds.
No arrests were made as a result of the seizure, police said.
