A city man has been killed and another is hospitalized after a shooting on 20th Avenue, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Kelvin Mejia, 24, and a 29-year-old man, both of Paterson, were struck by gunfire at around 8:46 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of 20th Avenue and East 29th Street.
Mejia was found lying in the roadway with apparent gunshot wounds, police said. He was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, but died of his injuries.
The second victim arrived at the hospital in private vehicle for treatment. He underwent surgery and remains hospitalized.
