An alleged drug dealer with a handgun was apprehended on Broadway early Wednesday evening, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Quashiek King, 21, of Paterson, was allegedly observed conducting a drug sale on the corner of Broadway and Summer Street at around 6:20 p.m.
King allegedly handed drugs to an occupant of a vehicle. Detectives were canvassing the area investigating a shooting that happened at the same location on Tuesday.
Detectives Aaron Hensz and Joehan Suarez approached King and ordered him not to move and put his hands up.
King obeyed and raised his arms, making visible a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun in his waistband.
King also had 154 glassine envelopes of heroin.
Police placed him under arrest and charged him with weapons and four drug offenses. He is being held at the Passaic County Jail.
