A Paterson man pocketed hundreds of dollars from the cash register while working at the Home Depot in Totowa.
David Soriano was charged with theft by unlawful taking. He faced 1.5 years in state prison if convicted.
Soriano entered a guilty plea on October 13. As part of the plea deal, he will be placed on probation. He also has to pay $850 in restitution to the Home Depot.
On July 20, Soriano was caught stealing money from the cash register of the Home Depot in Totowa. He had taken $850 from the register.
Soriano was employed at the hardware store and assigned to the cash register area when he committed the theft, he admitted in court before Passaic County judge Justine Niccollai.
Soriano is scheduled to be sentenced on November 30.
