Eleven people were displaced and one person had to be rescued by firefighters in a second-alarm blaze at a Marion Street house early Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 124 Marion Street at about 12:43 a.m., said deputy fire chief Andrew Ricciardi. He said firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.

Ricciardi said 10 adults and 1 child were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Firefighters rescued one person from the basement. The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. The victim was later taken to Jacobi Hospital in New York City for treatment.

A firefighter was injured at the scene. He was put off duty, said the deputy chief.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
