Paterson man arrested for allegedly breaking into basement to steal tools

A city man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a basement on North 9th Street and stealing tools, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

William Floyd, 53-year-old, has been charged with burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. He allegedly broke into the basement of the property at 11:11 a.m. on October 22.

Police were told the door lock to the basement was broken and $800 in tools were stolen.

Detective Eriberto DelValle conducted the investigation that led to Floyd’s arrest, police said.

Police located the suspect and arrested him at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
