Municipal officials are purchasing five snowplows in preparation for winter.
Hackensack-based Van Dine’s Motors is receiving a $25,885 contract to supply the five 8′ Western Pro Plus snowplows.
Public works director William “Billy” Rodriguez said he expects to get the snowplows soon after the contract is approved. He said that could be as early as Wednesday.
“What they need to have now is a program,” said councilman Luis Velez, chairman of the public works committee. He said that means being prepared with operational staff and equipment before the snowfall to salt or brine the streets and then removing the snow post-storm.
Velez said the city has been buying vehicles and other equipment to modernize public works and ensure the employees have the needed tools to do their work.
