A city man has been arrested for his alleged role in a car crash that left one person dead and two others seriously injured, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Lawan A. Henry, 23-year-old, was arrested on Sunday. He has been charged with death by auto while driving intoxicated within 1,000 feet of school property, knowingly leaving the scene of an accident involving death, causing death while driving unlicensed, two counts of assault by auto while driving intoxicated within 1,000 feet of school property, two counts of knowingly leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, and two counts of causing serious bodily injury while driving unlicensed.

Henry was allegedly operating a silver 2008 Cadillac CTS on Broadway between East 30th Street and East 29th Street at around 3:54 a.m. on Sunday. He allegedly crashed into several unoccupied vehicle parked along Broadway.

Authorities said Henry had three passengers in his vehicle. 18-year-old Xavier Ortiz of Paterson died at the scene from his injuries. The other two suffered serious injuries and are receiving treatment at the Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center.

Henry allegedly left the scene after the crash and was driving without a license, authorities said. He could face decades behind bars if convicted on all of the charges. He is being held at the Passaic County Jail.

This article is inaccurate. The person in the picture was the driver of the vehicle that was speeding down broadway. His brother Zae, was the passenger and died at the scene. There were 2 girls in the backseat. 1 that was 18 years old and 1 that was 17. The 18 year old suffered a fractured spine, broken shoulder, broken nose, broken knee bone and broken ribs with stitches to her face after being thrown from the vehicle. the 17 year old girl who was also in the backseat suffered a ruptured spleen and a concussion as well as kidney damage. they are both recovering in ICU. The driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and later arrested and taken to Passaic County Jail on Market St in Paterson.

Seems like many people here don't know how to read. Paterson education system is a failure.

    1. Article states he was driving on Broadway.
    2. Article states passenger was killed.
    3. Article states photo is of drunk driver.

But yet every post here didn't get it.
