Passaic County opening Covid-19 vaccination mega site

Passaic County is opening its first mega site to vaccinate residents against Covid-19 next week.

The vaccination site will be at the former Modell’s Sporting Goods at 1710 Route 46 West in Woodland Park.

It will begin operation on Wednesday. Vaccination will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to an announcement by Passaic County officials.

A mega site can administer the vaccine to more than 1,000 people per day.

The site will offer the Moderna vaccine. Passaic County struck a partnership with Vault Health late last year to administer the vaccine.

New Jersey vaccination guidelines allow anyone 65 and over, people with underlying medical conditions, firefighters, police officers, and health care workers to receive the vaccine.

Passaic County is being provided the vaccination site free of charge by Mandelbaum & Mandelbaum.

“I am merely doing what people are supposed to do in times of crisis. If we all work together, we can help turn the tide against this terrible pandemic,” said Michael Mandelbaum of Mandelbaum & Mandelbaum.

Passaic County requires residents to register and make an appointment to get the vaccine. In order to register visit passaiccountynj.org/COVIDvax – registration will open on Saturday.

So, Passaic County is opening a megasite for vaccinations while Paterson is closing theirs because there aren't enough does available. I hope the County and the City are coordinating their efforts but it sure doesn't look like it. Perhaps someone can provide transportation to Paterson residents to get to the Passaic County site since Paterson used up most of its vaccines on out-of-towners.
