The police arrested a man while responding to report of a shooting on Madison Avenue on Friday night, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Jermaine Williams, 33, of Paterson, has been charged with weapons offenses. He allegedly had a loaded Ruger .357 magnum revolver.

Police arrived at the intersection of Madison and 11th avenues on report of a shooting at around 9:25 p.m. They were provided a description of the suspect.

Williams matched the description. Police canvassed the area and observed him enter a business on 10th Avenue near East 27th Street.
