The police busted two men for having a gun and drugs on Friday night, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Alsavius White, 23, and Jamar Ray, 19, both of Paterson, were arrested at 239 Summer Street, police said.
White was charged with weapons offenses. Ray was charged with various drug offenses.
Detectives were conducting surveillance in the area at around 6:45 p.m. when they observed and arrested the two men. They had set up surveillance because of drug dealing and shootings in the area.
White was allegedly observed conducting several hand-to-hand drug exchanges. Detectives saw him with Ray when they approached.
Ray discarded a bag as police approached. He was arrested and the bag had 200 glassine envelopes of heroin and eight vials of crack cocaine.
Detectives also arrested White. Police seized a Taurus semi-automatic pistol and one large capacity magazine from White.
Both men are being held at the Passaic County Jail pending court hearings.
