Paterson man pleads guilty to striking two women in the face

A city man pleaded guilty on Friday to physically attacking two women during separate arguments that turned violent.

Robert York, 30, pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated assault in the two separate incidents that occurred two years apart. As part of his plea deal, he will receive probation and 364 days in the Passaic County Jail.

In the first incident, which occurred on October 28, 2018, York was at a friend’s house in Paterson with his then-girlfriend, S.S. He got into a verbal argument with her. The argument turned physical and he struck her in the face.

She suffered a left orbital fracture.

York is barred from making contact with S.S.

In the second incident, which occurred on October 22, 2020, York was at a shelter on 1st Street in Clifton, with his current girlfriend, J.M. He got into an argument that turned physical. He struck her in the face.

She suffered a nasal bone fracture.

York must complete domestic violence and anger management counseling as part of the plea deal.

York has been in the Passaic County Jail since October.

York is scheduled to be sentenced on March 19 at 9 a.m.
