A city police officer was arrested on domestic violence charges on Thursday, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Joseph Tuminelli, who has been a police officer for six months, is accused of committing “acts of domestic violence,” according to authorities.
Tuminelli has been charged with third-degree aggravated assault, fourth-degree stalking, and the petty disorderly persons offense of harassment.
Authorities did not provide information about the victim because it’s a domestic violence incident.
Tuminelli could face a maximum of six years in state prison if convicted.
Tuminelli joined the police department in July of last year. He was suspended without pay after charges were filed against him, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
