A 21-year-old city man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities did not disclose his name because the suspect was a juvenile when he allegedly committed the crimes. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Police arrested the suspect on Monday. Clifton police notified the prosecutor’s office about the sexual assault incidents for investigation on March 7, 2020. Detectives interviewed witnesses and the victim, who reported multiple sexual assaults by the suspect in residence in Paterson and Clifton when the victim was between 6 and 11, authorities said.
The suspect was charged and released. He could face a lengthy sentence if convicted on the charges.
