Paterson police arrest three, including 15-year-old boy, and seize three weapons in high crime areas

The police arrested three people, including a boy, and seized three handguns in their operation hitting “hotspots” or high crime zones on Friday, according to public safety directory Jerry Speziale.

Delsean Pinchom, 20; Brian Figueroa, 20; and 15-year-old boy, all of Paterson, were arrested on various weapons offenses.

Detectives arrested Pinchom near 300 Hamilton Avenue at around 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Police observed him standing in front of the multi-family residence and recognized him from a wanted bulletin issued related to a previous investigation.

Pinchom began to flee as police approached. Police chased behind him. He went to the rear of the building and climbed up a fire escape. He allegedly discarded a loaded Smith & Wesson .357 revolver. Detectives observed him enter the third floor through the window off the fire escape. He was arrested inside the building.

Pinchom was additionally charged with resisting arrest.

Figueroa was observed on Jefferson and North Main streets at around 7:45 p.m. on Friday. He was sitting there with a gun showing from his waistband. He walked away. Police located him on North Main and Arch streets.

Figueroa was placed under arrest and a Springfield .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol with a high-capacity magazine was seized.

Detectives observed the 15-year-old and another person on North Main and Clinton streets at around 9:30 p.m. He began walking north on Clinton Street. He was observed either placing or getting an object from near a parked vehicle on Clinton Street. He continued walking on Clinton Street towards North 1st Street.

Detectives observed him join a group of males outside a residence on Arch Street. As police exited their vehicle, the boy discarded a loaded Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

All three weapons are being sent to the New Jersey State Police for analysis.

The boy is being held at the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center.

Pinchom and Figueroa are being held at the Passaic County Jail.
