A man inside an idling van with fictitious New York license plates was arrested on Monday night, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.
Jefferie Lowery, 32, of Paterson, has been charged with weapons offenses, certain persons not to have weapons, and resisting arrest.
Detective observed a Dodge Caravan idling in the area of East 18th Street and Park Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. They were informed the vehicle’s New York plates were fictitious and belonged on another vehicle.
Lowery was identified as the driver. He was allegedly found in possession of a Taurus .380 caliber handgun.
Police said he resisted arrest, but was eventually placed in handcuffs. He is being held at the Passaic County Jail.
