An elderly man has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing two children, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Juan “Milton” Cordero-Rivera, 72, of Paterson, was arrested on Monday on charges of aggravated sexual assault; two counts of sexual assault; and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Cordero-Rivera allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old child, authorities said. Police learned about the case on April 26 after the child’s mother brought the victim to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The child disclosed being sexually abused by Cordero-Rivera in the past.

Detectives then identified a second victim, a 43-year-old, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Cordero-Rivera as a child.

Both sexual assaults occurred in different residences in Paterson, authorities said.

Cordero-Rivera could face decades in prison if convicted.
