One man hurt in downtown Paterson shooting

A city man was wounded in a broad daylight shooting in downtown Paterson on Thursday afternoon, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim, 45-year-old, was struck by gunfire at around 12 p.m. on Main Street and Broadway. He was sitting in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle in the area when a suspect began shooting at another vehicle driving through the area.

Police said the victim was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are not fatal, authorities said.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
