An alleged drug dealer and several of his customers were arrested in a downtown Paterson surveillance operation on Tuesday, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Glenn Urena, 38, of Paterson; Julian A. Vega, 28, of Netcong; Janelle Godfrey, 33, of Jefferson; Donald L. Hedrickson, 40, of Irvington; and Jamie M. Mahon, 28, West Milford, were arrested on various drug offenses.

Urena was allegedly dealing drugs out of his apartment at 136 Washington Street, apartment 303. Police targeted drug distribution.

Urena and Vega were observed engaging in a drug sale at around 2 p.m. Vega then got in a waiting vehicle and departed the area.

Police stopped Vega on Clark and Ward streets. He had 50 glassine envelopes of heroin and 4 vials of crack cocaine, police said.

Godfrey was the driver of the vehicle. She was also charged.

Urena conducted another drug sale at around 2:20 p.m. with Hendrickson in the hallway of his apartment. Both exited the location and left the area in separate vehicles.

Hendrickson was stopped on Hamilton Plaza and Smith Street. He had 50 packets of heroin and 10 vials of crack cocaine.

Urena was stopped on Ward and Clark streets. His driver was Mahon. Mahon had an 11-month old child inside the vehicle.

Police checked the welfare of the child and found a vial of crack cocaine near the child. The child was released to relatives.

Mahon was charged with drug possession and child endangerment.

Police then raided Urena’s apartment. In all, police seized 1,070 packets of heroin, 102 vials of crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

Urena was charged with numerous drug offenses.
