A Paterson man has been sentenced to three years in state prison for engaging in sexual conduct with a 13-year-old Wayne girl left in his care, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Joseph Montgomery, 33-year-old, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree endangering the welfare of a child for engaging in sexual conduct with the girl at the child’s residence in Wayne.

Montgomery was entrusted to babysit the girl on New Year’s Eve.

Montgomery was sentenced by Passaic County judge Sohail Mohammed on Friday. He will be subject to parole supervision for life and must register as a sex offender.
