Paterson man’s vehicle fatally struck Clifton pedestrian

A Clifton man has died after being struck by a vehicle driven by a Paterson man, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Marinus Lalumia, 81-year-old, was crossing Hazel Street near the intersection with Van Orden Place in Clifton at around 8:22 a.m. on Sunday, when he was struck by a 2017 Honda HR-V that was being operated by Ibrahim A. Jadallah, 21, of Paterson.

Lalumia was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed against Jadallah.

Authorities said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

    We live on Hazel Street and saw the disturbing aftermath. We really hope we can get flashing pedestrian crossing lights on that section of the street. We are always worried about the people from the Daughter's of Miriam who like to walk in the neighborhood. Speed limit is 30 and people drive 55.
