The police arrested ten people, including two juveniles, seized two handguns, and issued 349 motor vehicle summonses in a weekend crime suppression operation, according to public safety director Jerry Speziale.

Speziale said police were out in force on Friday and Saturday because of an uptick in violent street crimes.

Ten people were arrested on drugs and gun charges. He said police seized a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a HighPoint semi-automatic handgun. Keshawn Frazier, 24, of Paterson, and Jose Ruiz, 24 of Paterson, were both charged with illegal firearm possession.

Police confiscated 986 glassine envelopes of heroin, 13 baggies of crack cocaine, and 12 Ecstasy tablets. Police issued 32 ordinance violations, including for loud music and public drinking.

Los Cristales Bar at 409 21st Avenue was issued seven liquor license violations, said the director.

Speziale said the operation yielded 349 motor vehicle violations. He said 11 vehicles were towed for violations.
