Paterson man charged with attempted murder in shooting of 19-year-old on Carroll Street

Dazhier Huggins

A city man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder for his alleged role in the shooting of a 19-year-old man on Carroll Street, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Dazhier Huggins, 20-year-old, was also charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the July 20 shooting on Carroll and Harrison streets.

Huggins was identified as a suspect in the incident. He was arrested on Thursday after a short foot pursuit on Lafayette and Mercer streets at around 1:52 p.m. He had a 9mm handgun and 10 bricks of heroin at the time of the arrest. He picked up new weapons and drug charges as a result.

Huggins could face decades in prison if convicted on all the charges.

But he is such a good kid. He is going to be a pharmacist or attorney. I think this racist systemic system is to blame. Let him go. He's a very peaceful productive member of society and still has his whole life ahead of him.

    Sounds like CNN, MSNBC, NAACP
