Mayor Andre Sayegh’s administration is spending $1.15 million to renovate the Putnam Oval baseball field on Lafayette Street.

Municipal officials are spending $872,095 for purchase and installation of a new synthetic turf field and $287,900 for a new lighting system. It will include five poles-led lighting with a light control system.

Montville-based Athletic Fields of America was awarded the $872,095 contract to handle installation of the new turf. Iowa-based Musco Lighting was awarded the $287,900 for the new lights and control system.

Both contracts were awarded earlier in the week.

It’s not clear when work will start or finish.

Almost a million dollars for turf and 300k for some lights. I say plant some weeds and have field only used during daylight hours because the turf will be damaged and if at night drug dealing and shootings will occur. Use money wisely stupid people.
