Yonkers man was sleeping inside a residence in Paterson when gunfire from outside struck him

A man from Yonkers, New York was sleeping inside a residence in Paterson when gunfire from the street struck him early Monday morning, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim, 35-year-old, was struck by gunfire at around 12:15 a.m. He was sleeping inside a residence on East 23rd Street and Park Avenue when he was struck by gunfire coming from the outside.

Authorities said gunfire also struck the outside of the residence and three motor vehicles in the area.

The victim was rushed to Saint Joseph’s University for treatment. He sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound, authorities said.

Police continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.

    I know someone that lives in downtown Paterson a bullet entered their home and they called police and uniformed officers came and quickly said detectives will contact you, now 2 years later and no one contacted them. Would have had more of a response on a traffic ticket. SHAME
