Law enforcement officials will be holding gun buybacks at two Paterson churches on Saturday.

Buybacks will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2021 at the below churches:

  • Gilmore Memorial Tabernacle at 68 Bishop Clarence Gilmore Blvd.
  • St. Luke’s Baptist Church at 139 Carroll Street.

Residents can turn in guns with “no questions asked” and get as much as $250 per weapon. Police will be stationed at the sites to collect and secure the guns.

  • John Barrnet

Nobody going to give no guns up

  • Chino Vargas

And the criminals will give away theirs working tool,,just let us how many they returned and don't forget to post it !!!

  • Nicholas Mercado

Some of the problems with a gun buy program are listed as followed.

    1. The word buy back would indicate that the firearms were originally owned by the government and they want there firearms back which it doesn't.

    2. Gun buy back programs have never been shown a correlation in the elimination of crime or the reduction in crime.

    3. The program implies that that criminals go through background checks and purchase firearms legally to commit crimes. It almost as if there saying that there is no way for criminals to get firearms from the black market.

    4. If police don't believe citizens need to firearms to protect themselves, then why do they need them to protect there lives. It's almost there is a double standard. It's as if the only reason they are doing this is to make the citizens criminals which will lead more no knock warrants, mistaken identities, fault arrest and imprisonments, more excessive force complaints, more wrongful deaths at the hands of the police, and with all this happening the criminals will only grow stronger.

In closing if police and politicians don't believe that citizens need firearms to protect themselves and there family, let them surrender there firearms first to illustrate that point.
