A 22-year-old man pleaded guilty to a gun charge last week. He will be sentenced to three and half years in New Jersey state prison.

Jaquan K. Grayson, 22, of Paterson, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon last Wednesday. He will have to serve 42 months in state prison under the plea deal.

Grayson was originally charged with robbery and two weapons offenses which would have gotten him a much longer sentence. His attorney Kenyatta Stewart negotiated the plea deal with the prosecutor’s office. Stewart represented Grayson during the virtual hearing on Wednesday.

On July 8, 2021, Grayson was approached by police while inside driver’s seat of his Nissan Maxima on East 39th Street. Police seized a handgun that was near his feet inside the vehicle.

Grayson is being held at the Bergen County Jail. He is scheduled to be sentenced before New Jersey Superior Court judge Justine Niccolai on March 7, 2022.
